For me, doing reptile shows was about promoting my business and try to help as many people as I could, but the more I do them the more I have come to realize there is a hidden bonus to it. I get to hang out with so many friends that I feel sad when the show is over and I find myself looking forward to the next show every time the current one ends. This show in Orlando was no different and I’ll recap here the highlights:
1- We got to hang out all show with Kevin and Maryse from www.ReptileSupply.com and that in itself made the show great. Great people, great products, great prices, what more can you ask for? Check them out for any reptile supply needs you might have.
2- Right next to Kevin and Maryse’s table I got to spend some time with Greg and Samantha from www.MartinsWorldExotics.com and I had the pleasure to see a very nice specimen of Callagur borneoensis which is quickly becoming my favorite turtle. If I ever decide to get one, I wouldn’t think of anyone else to go but Greg. Check their stock and I’m sure you’ll find something you will like. Greg also made us laugh showing us his baby pictures.
3- Lindsay Pike from www.urotopia.com delighted everyone at the show with a great selection of Ornate Uromastyx to choose from. Anywhere from babies to adults were on display (and for sale) and they were all gorgeous, so gorgeous that I ended up coming home with a pair. See the pics attached below so you can see for yourself the colors and quality of his specimens. You want Uromastyx? Go to Lindsay. We will post updates on this pair periodically.
4- A show wouldn’t be complete without hanging out with Vicki and Tom from www.bigfatgeckos.com. As usual, they had a great selection of Crested geckos and other Rhacodactylus species but they blew my mind with 2 pairs of giant Leachianus, and they were big fat geckos indeed. Yet another species on my “wanted list” and hopefully I’ll get to own some sooner rather than later. And yes, you guessed it, I will get them from Vicki and Tom for sure.
5- My presentation on Skinks went great. Smaller audience than my chameleon talks but very attentive. I had a live Red-Eye Crocodile Skink, Prehensile-Tailed Skink and Shingleback Skink on display to explain their different needs. Great experience for me and I hope it was the same for the people in attendance.
6- As an unexpected treat, the Python Hunters were at the show filming for one of their upcoming episodes. Michael Cole, Greg Graziani, and Shawn Hefflick were all at the show with Albino Alligators and many Ball Python morphs on display.
That’s about it for now. Thanks to evertyone who attended the show and came to the table to say hi or to seek advice. As long as we can keep doing these shows we will be there.
